Goodeve obtained a double major in International Relations at Schiller College. He later enrolled at London Polytechnic to further his studies. He subsequently attended Ithaca College, where he focused on drama and broadcasting. Goodeve’s acting journey began with a role in the fifth season of Emergency! in 1976. His breakthrough came in February 1977 when he successfully auditioned for the role of David Bradford in the ABC series, Eight Is Enough. This role was originally played by Mark Hamill in the pilot episode, but Goodeve took over as the eldest son in the Bradford family when the show premiered in 1977. Eight Is Enough became a significant hit, running until 1981 and solidifying Goodeve’s status as a household name.
